AUSTIN CITY LIMITS MUSIC FESTIVAL 18

For ACL 2018, Gonzo Viz was commissioned by C3 events to create a 32x8’ mural documenting the artists, fans and atmosphere of the festival—created real-time over the 2 weekends of the festival. Staying true to the Gonzo Viz creedo, Ami circulated among the festival capturing what he saw in his sketchbook. Once he returned to the VIP Grove he’d add the sketches to the mural. Ami had a great time drawing amazing artists such as David Byrne, Janelle Monae, Paul McCartney, Metallica, The Breeders, Sweet Spirit, Amber Mark and more. We also had some great engagement with fans who watched the painting grow over the weekend, many of them checking in on a daily basis. And of course it created a great setting for selfies and other instagrammable moments.
