Tapestry Dance Studio Presents: A Precious Present 22

In December we were asked to create a visual accompaniment to 3 performances of Tapestry Dance Company’s “The Precious Present” at the Austin Ballet Theater. The performance was a series of dance and musical soloist vignettes in a variety of styles, and Ami set up side stage with his drawing tablet connected to a projector, projecting to a large screen on stage. As each performer did their thing, Ami sketched furiously to capture the energy of their performance. As they left the stage, Ami cut the projector from a still background image and played back the timelapse of the drawings for the crowd, as the band played a musical segue, creating a visual performance for the audience in its own right.
