MICROSOFT TALKS
We have been really excited about our partnership over the last couple of years with Microsoft covering their events and running a workshop or two. We began by live painting a Microsoft Aspire event February 20th, 2020 in Redmond. Then all the sudden the world turned upside down but they adapted to connecting virtually, and we came along for the ride. Since then we have moved virtual, capturing their events—chock full of compelling speakers from within the organization as well as inspiring guests from the outside—and running creative workshops on the Microsoft Teams remote platform.

The July 20th Aspire event was a first for Gonzo Viz as we both Live Sketched and ran one of our remote creative workshops, “Home Office Superhero” where participants would choose an item from around their home which has become important to them since we have all been working remotely and anthropomorphized it into a superhero, giving it powers, developing a backstory and sketching it out. We ran the 30-minute workshop 4 times (the event was repeated at 2 different times to accommodate the global audience) and we were excited by the level of participation and creativity displayed, all developed in under half an hour (see images below)!
The event was kicked off with a video message from the SLT followed by a candid Q & A session between Jean-Phillipe Courtois, EVP and President, Microsoft Global Sales, Marketing & Operations at Microsoft., words from the Aspire team and then topped off with a musical celebration with DJ Blast on the wheels.

The June 23rd Aspire event focused on some great topics including “bringing your best self”, “making it happen” and “giving culture”. We heard from great speakers—Aspires, the Aspire leadership team as well as Alex Honnold, climber and subject of the documentary Free Solo, who talked about how incremental goals were a key to his successes.

We were really excited to travel to Redmond to capture the inaugural “Aspire Talks”, a series of inspirational talks by both Microsoft employees and visiting guests, following the theme of “Resilience”, for members of the Aspire program for Microsoft employees who were recent graduates.
Hosted by Valerie Anderson, Chris Wells and Kimberly Kim, Ami painted the amazing lineup of inspirational speakers, capturing their stories and ideas as well. Aspirers, current and former, Patrick Lyons, Akosua Boadi Agyemang, Bea Mendez with a keynote from Raji Rajagopalan. An amazing story about a Krispy Kreme baker going above and beyond to fulfill Jia Jiang's olympic dreams (amongst other great tales of @rejectiontherapy ) and Coach Rob Mendez asked "Who says I can't?" Big shout out to Aspirer @xjay9 for the meta portrait of Ami, Kim and everyone else at North Events for producing an amazing event and Becki Culbert for organizing and bringing us in.
