REV GROUP MURAL CREATION WORKSHOP

Rev.com was looking for a cool and interactive art activation for their summer party, taking place at the Armadillo Den in South Austin. They were expecting upwards of 200 employees so we needed to do something scaleable and fun, so we thought this would be a perfect opportunity for Group Mural Creation.

We designed the outline of a mural that focused on their core messages—SERVE, OWN and GROW—and some of their brand imagery and then broke it into a grid, composed of 8.5x11” tiles. Attendees would come to the art are of the party and could decorate their tile with paint, markers, colored pencils or even collage in any way they wanted, as long as they maintained the base shapes of their tile. Once they were done they were able to add their piece to a temporary gridded wall, and we began to see the mural come together. The mural was broken out into about 130 tiles and we were a little worried that it wouldn’t get finished, but the Rev team members really took to the challenge and created some beautiful, unique, and highly creative tiles and the mural was completed just as the party started winding down.

After the party we took the tiles down and brought them down to the studio where we created a custom wood backing for the mural, cut out into its shape. We mounted the pieces together and it is now the centerpiece of Rev office in downtown Austin, a beautiful testament to individual expression combined with a great group effort.
