Thrive by 15Five Conference: Live Illustration + Group Animation

In November of 2022, HR SAAS software and thought leader 15Five brought together customers, employees and HR industry professionals for two-and-a-half days of talks, panels, breakouts and a little bit of partying, at the JW Marriot and Fair Market in Austin. Working closely with the folks at 15Five and Peridot Productions, we crafted two exciting art activations designed to both engage attendees during the conference as well as create amazing post conference content. We captured the conference as it happened in drawing and shared the imagery in (almost) real-time on displays throughout the conference venue. At the same time we ran a Group Animation Project where attendees could take a creative and express themselves artistically while contributing to a group effort. See the results below…

Live Illustration

Ami, iPad in hand capture the people, the ideas and the energy of the event in vivid digital painting. The paintings captured were displayed as video time lapses between sessions on the screens throughout the venue, wowing attendees engrossed in the artistic interpretations (and possibly looking for a glimpse of themselves). Post event the artwork has been used to reconnect to the attendees as engaging digital content in the 15Five social feed.

Group Animation Project

The rest of the Gonzo Viz team set up in the lounge area to run a group animation project. Attendees were invited to take a template, which represented 1 frame of animation, and color that frame with any color and style that they want, as long as it followed the basic form of the template. What resulted was a engaging 27 second animation—Plant, Nourish, Thrive—an amazing representation of the individual expression and ideas present at the conference coupled with a wonderful group effort that allowed us to so quickly create a piece in a labor intensive medium.
