ACL PLATINUM

For the 2017 Austin City Limits festival, Ami was commissioned to draw portraits of the platinum level guests as part of their enhanced experience. He did not however set up a booth & draw them with big heads & little bodies but rather wandered through the platinum areas of the stage capturing subjects in the context of the ACL experience, surrounded by the energy of the live acts & the crowd.

After sketching individuals he would paint the drawings in the shade of a big tree in the Platinum area, creating a further level of engagement with the attendees. He would then–before the festival ended–deliver the final painted pieces to the subjects, who were ecstatic to receive the memento of their experience.
